Scholarship winning student Zoe Shufelt lands lead in ‘The Kid from Simcoe Street’
Northcrest resident Zoe Shufelt, a Grade 12 St. Peter Catholic Secondary School student who graduates this year, is taking centre stage, both in Trent Valley Archives Theatre’s premiere production of “The Kid from Simcoe Street,” and out in the community.
Shufelt who is pursuing studies at Queen’s University this fall, and fellow St. James Players alumnus Miriam Clysdale, were recently awarded $1,500 post secondary scholarships from St. James Players. The scholarships are awarded to youth who have shown “dedication, passion, and a love for community theatre on and off stage.”
Shufelt presently has the leading role in Trent Valley Archives Theatre’s “The Kid from Simcoe Street,” where they have taken on the challenge of performing the role of a living character, playing the teenage James Clarke, the play’s main character.
“When playing Jim, I try to pull from my own experiences of being a stubborn high school student,” says Shufelt.
