San Antonio mayor wants Ye’s July 4 concert canceled over past hate speech

(NewsNation) — The mayor of San Antonio does not want Kanye West performing in her city.

Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones took to social media, calling for a July 4 concert featuring the artist, now known as Ye, to be canceled over the rapper’s past antisemitic statements.

“I support canceling the Ye concert,” Jones wrote on social platform X. “Military City USA should not host someone with a record of hate speech and antisemitic comments in a city-funded facility like our Alamodome—not ever, and certainly not on July 4th, our Nation’s 250th birthday.”

She added, “Standing up to antisemitism is exactly what it takes to achieve a more perfect Union.”
