A lesser-known episode from India’s freedom struggle has put the spotlight back on the Scindia rulers of Gwalior and Mahatma Gandhi. Historical records cited by researchers claim that the Maharaja of Gwalior sent ₹25 lakh for the Congress fund at a time when Gandhi was considering a visit to the princely state.
The account has surfaced through documents preserved by the Mahua Dabar Museum and references in the 1996 Bhind District Gazetteer. Researcher Dr Shah Alam Rana has said the episode is recorded in the gazetteer........
