Goldman Sachs board is reportedly eyeing a plan to replace David Solomon as CEO

The board has discussed naming COO John Waldron as chief executive as soon as late 2027, with Solomon potentially staying on as executive chairman

Goldman Sachs $GS' board has discussed a plan under which Chief Executive David Solomon would step down, with John Waldron — the bank's president and chief operating officer — taking over the top role possibly as early as next year, The Wall Street Journal reported. The talks have focused on a handover around late 2027 or during 2028, with Solomon expected to stay on as executive chairman for a year or two following his exit from the top role.
