How Does AI Make You Feel?

Something registers in the body and in the mood well before we consciously decide whether an exchange with an AI system went well. Do you feel your shoulders tighten when a bot answers with delay? Do you feel relief spreading through your chest when, unexpectedly, a couple of prompts solved a hard problem smoothly? Does your heartbeat accelerate during an intensive “conversation” you’re having with your chatbot? These reactions are part of the texture that characterizes our hybrid relationships.

Four Dimensions, One Experience

Aspirations pull us toward what matters. Emotion tints the pulling. The mind sorts, plans, and doubts. Sensation registers the whole event in muscle, gut, skin. These four arrive together, each shaping the others, and any accurate account of what AI does to a person has to move through all four, because AI touches all four, while being influenced in return by how the user expresses them externally.

We are part of an organically evolving, hybrid kaleidoscope—and that dynamic is part of us. Let’s go through the four internal dimensions one by one:
