Buckhorn students reel in support for Atlantic salmon project

They have earned their fish tech T-shirts. They have worked hard to understand the life cycle of the Atlantic salmon, how to care for them properly and prepare for stocking.

Those T-shirts have been a product of the hard work of many people. Two Grade 6 students did the artwork: a picture of an Atlantic salmon is on the front and the life cycle of an Atlantic salmon on the back. Family contributions and fundraising left the T-shirt fund short $1,200. The Buckhorn District Lions Club was approached for a donation and provided $500. Plus Brian from Jeff Purvey’s Fish and Chips contributed another $500.

When the students take the fry to the Ganaraska River June 4 all 70 students will be highly visible. After stocking the fry the students will head to the Ganaraska Forest Centre to participate in a pond study, learning about aquatic........
