Goalie goals have seen a resurgence in the NHL over the past decade, as after a 17-year dry spell, we have seen six goalie goals since 2020.

To score, a goalie needs a couple of different characteristics — they need to have excellent puck-handling skills and the ability to shoot the puck with some power the length of the ice. They also need the right attitude to try something this crazy in the first place, getting past the thought that his attempt could get picked off and turned into a scoring chance late in a tight game.
