Suzuki is working on bringing a new plug-in range-extender hybrid system for compact cars, dubbed “REEV Light.” It will be building on brand’s existing series-hybrid architecture.
New Delhi: Suzuki is working on a new plug-in range-extender hybrid system for compact cars, dubbed “REEV Light.” The technology will build on the brand’s existing series-hybrid architecture. It uses an electric motor to propel the vehicle while an internal-combustion engine acts as a generator when additional electrical energy is required.
The proposed system might also get an external charging port and a battery pack sized according to the vehicle’s requirements. This would let owners charge the car for shorter trips while retaining the engine-generator as a backup for longer trips.
