Apple Pay enters India without UPI or RuPay support at launch
Apple Pay is now available in India with eligible Axis Bank Visa and Mastercard credit cards. The first rollout excludes RuPay and depends on support from merchants, apps and payment terminals.
Apple Pay has launched in India through a partnership with Axis Bank, giving eligible cardholders a new way to make contactless and online payments. At launch, the service supports Axis Bank-issued Visa and Mastercard credit cards.
Customers can add an eligible card to Apple Wallet and use it on supported Apple devices. The first phase remains limited because RuPay cards are not included and merchants or payment terminals may need specific Apple Pay support.
Say hello to Apple Pay in India! 🇮🇳 We’re so excited to bring Apple Pay to India today,........
