Whenever a book gets adapted into a movie, you can pretty much guarantee that people will eventually start arguing over which version was superior. Sometimes significant changes are made before a story is deemed suitable for the big screen, which inevitably upsets the purists. However, in the case of the 1994 Tom Hanks dramedy Forrest Gump, many seem to agree that the filmmakers’ alterations were for the better.

And at the end of the day, one thing that can’t be debated is that a truly faithful adaptation of the original novel would’ve made........
