New Delhi: A BBC News Hindi investigation has revealed that six registered unrecognised political parties (RUPP) from Gujarat received higher donations than all national parties except the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the year 2023-2024, despite fielding only one or two candidates during elections, that too rarely.

The BBC News Hindi report, published on Friday (September 4), identified these parties as the Aam Janmat Party, Bharatiya National Janata Dal, Garib Kalyan Party, New India United Party, Satyawadi Rakshak Party and the Swatantrata Abhivyakti Party.

As per the report, Aam Janmat Party garnered over Rs 620 crore in donations during 2023-2024, substantively bypassing the Congress’s Rs 281 crore collection that same year. The RUPP fielded a single candidate, in a single constituency, during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
