Kathleen Parker’s August 4 column in the Buffalo News misses the mark on the differences between the socialism of Hitler and Stalin and the democratic socialism of a socially responsible republic. The autocracies of Hitler and Stalin used the term socialism to justify their manic self empowerment and have thus infected the term.
