On the morning of Aug. 20, Southwest Airlines flight attendant Jenny Lupton was found deceased near a dumpster at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, where she was staying. The mysterious circumstances of her death have prompted a police investigation and a fundraiser for her family.

“We were told by the medical examiner and then by security at the Hilton hotel that she passed from a fall, from the 24th floor balcony,” Hannah Lupton, Jenny’s niece, told KOCO-TV.

Lupton, 50, was from Moore, Oklahoma. She had been in Hawaii for work and planned to stay several days before returning home. She had been a flight attendant for 29 years, including 26 years with Southwest, Hannah told USA Today.

Her family has questioned the circumstances surrounding her death and is struggling to understand what happened during her final hours.

“It doesn’t feel real,” Tresa Lupton, Jenny’s sister, told News 9. She had received a text just hours before she died. The family does not believe that Lupton died by suicide. “... The timeline doesn’t make sense, and we are afraid that maybe there was foul play,” Tresa said.
