Six Flags Magic Mountain announced Tuesday that it is permanently retiring its X2 roller coaster, a Southern California landmark that has been the subject of mounting litigation over brain injuries allegedly sustained on the ride.
Brian Oerding, president of Six Flags Magic Mountain, wrote in a blog post that despite X2 clearing "a multitude of safety tests" repeatedly, the park had ultimately chosen to shut it down: "we have decided to close the ride because we believe it's the right thing to do."
