Visa $V -0.12% rules have gotten more complex, not less, in 2026, with new electronic travel authorizations now required for entry into the UK, the broader Schengen Area, and other destinations that were fully visa-free just a couple of years ago. Within this more complicated system, though, a specific set of legal, lesser-known tricks and programs can genuinely simplify international travel, all confirmed by official sources rather than gray-area workarounds.

A second passport for frequent flyers

The United States allows citizens who travel frequently for legitimate reasons to hold two valid passports simultaneously, a specific program that lets a traveler keep moving internationally while one passport is tied up at an embassy for a visa application that takes days or weeks to process.

Michael Zervos, who set the Guinness World Record for visiting every country in just 499 days, has specifically credited this program with keeping his trip on schedule, since a delayed visa application on one passport no longer meant grounding his entire itinerary while waiting for it to clear.

This program requires demonstrating a genuine, ongoing need for the second passport, typically frequent international travel for business or a similarly documented reason, and current guidance recommends applying directly through the State Department well before an international itinerary depends on having both passports in........
