Kawartha Land Trust seeks partners to bring new life into buildings on Hammer property
Kawartha Land Trust (KLT) recently held an open house to share information about the Hammer Family Nature Preserve property, providing updates on current projects, and receiving feedback from community members.
There are current projects growing out of the 1,400-acre property that will keep people focused on the conservation aspects of land preservation for many years to come.
On their map, there are various agriculture areas with varying priorities and differing sizes depicted. There is a managed forest of 50 acres which is undergoing active Savanna Management. There is a managed forest with a conservation forestry focus of 96 acres. There is an oak savannah being planted which is an at-risk ecosystem in Ontario.
All of these have a community focus with organizations of the same interest.
One of the stations at the open house was about community access. A community trail is being developed by KLT staff and volunteers. Work........
