The motion, tabled by Reform group leader Tim Day and seconded by Mike Conroy, passed unopposed at a Norwich City Council meeting on Tuesday night.

It commits the council to "urgently write to the Home Office to demand the inclusion of Norwich and Norfolk within the scope of its national inquiry into grooming and rape gangs to ensure no stone is left unturned".

The motion claims that partnering Norfolk Constabulary with a national inquiry would bring "vital extra resources, expertise and weight" and remove "any risk of local institutional blind spots or fear of censorship".
