Proposals to build a 66-bed care home on the former Jarrolds Sports Ground in Hellesdon, which has not been used since 2016, were approved by Broadland District Council (BDC) on Wednesday.

The site had been a hive of activity among employees of the Norfolk company since the 1950s, but eventually closed due to dwindling membership numbers.
