BMW 3 Series eighth-gen model won’t get diesel powertrain
BMW has said that the 3 Series won't get a diesel powertrain for its eighth-generation codenamed internally G50. Aside from the first-generation E21, this will be only the second time and 3 Series isn't getting a diesel engine.
New Delhi: BMW isn’t carrying diesel engines with the eighth-generation 3 Series, internally known as the G50. The new saloon is being offered with petrol power, while a plug-in hybrid iteration is slated to arrive in 2027. The completely electric i3 also comes as part of the eighth-generation 3 Series family.
BMWBLOG had reported that a BMW spokesperson confirmed that the new 3 Series saloon will be sold exclusively with petrol-based powertrains. This will be either as conventional petrol models or with plug-in hybrid technology.
