Beyond AI skills: How FIIB is rebuilding management education around career capability
For FIIB, a New Delhi business school with more than three decades of experience and an AACSB accreditation, that belief has reshaped how the school builds its degree. Its response is FIIBX, a learning framework designed around career capability: the combination of business knowledge, repeated practice, technological fluency and reflection that helps graduates contribute early and continue adapting as work changes.
From Course Completion to Career Capability
FIIBX is not a separate program or a single AI curriculum. It is a redesign of how management capability is developed, practiced, assessed and demonstrated across the student journey. The idea returns to the original purpose of business education. Harvard introduced the first MBA in 1908 to prepare professional managers for companies too large and complex for any single entrepreneur to run alone. Every era since has reshaped the curriculum without changing that mission - only the challenge has changed, from industrialization then to continuous disruption now. FIIBX is built for that shift: education should equip learners to solve unfamiliar problems, not merely reproduce familiar answers.
That changes the organizing question. Instead of asking only what subjects a student has completed, FIIBX asks what the student can do with what they have learned. “The biggest mistake a B-school can make today is to treat AI as another subject to add to the curriculum,” Shrivastava says. “AI is changing something fundamental: it is changing what is worth learning.”
Core disciplines remain essential, but knowledge is repeatedly placed in situations that require interpreting ambiguity, making choices and learning from the outcome. As routine analysis and first drafts get automated, the manager's contribution moves toward problem framing, critical evaluation and accountable decision-making - capabilities built through deliberate practice, not recall.
