Frozen food company Nomad Foods - which owns brands including Birds Eye, Ledo, iglo, Findus and Frikom - says the investment will see total waffle capacity increase to around 18,250 tonnes - equivalent to nearly 45 million potato waffles - annually.

It is part of what is describes as a "sustained plan" at the Lowestoft factory, which recently benefited from a £12m investment in chicken processing - and in plans for an on-site wind turbine.
