Kickboxer faces life sentence for beating man to death after drinking session

Arvydas Maliusis, of Recorder Road, Norwich, had denied murdering 39-year-old Ilja Akatjevas, who lived in Mill House, College Street, Ipswich.

But the jury at Ipswich Crown Court took less than four hours to reach its guilty verdict after a trial lasting two weeks.

Adjourning sentence until August 6, Judge Samantha Leigh said Maliusis had been "rightly convicted on overwhelming evidence".

She described the defendant's suggestion that a woman he had been with on the night of the killing was responsible for Mr Akatjevas's death as........
