School faces uncertain future after planners reject site over flood risk
Coastal Compass, an alternative provision facility for children unable to attend regular school, launched on Monday, September 28 in a former warehouse and office space at Unit 5 on Riverside Road in Gorleston.
Only days after opening, however, planners at Great Yarmouth Borough Council have rejected the operators' plans to change the use of the building, throwing the school's future into uncertainty.
In a report, officers noted the school had already opened before a decision was made on the planning application, describing the change of use as "intentionally committed unauthorised development".
