Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell isn’t going anywhere for now, and that’s very good news for the institution’s independence and integrity.

President Donald Trump has ceaselessly badgered the central bank to lower policy rates since his administration began, going so far as to weaponize the Department of Justice to get his way. Most alarmingly, his DOJ launched an investigation into cost overruns in a Fed building renovation project, a thinly-veiled pretext to further pressure policymakers into easing rates.
