More men taking on caregiving responsibilities, highlighting need for workplace supports: expert
As more men take on caregiving responsibilities, employers need to recognize the growing number of male employees balancing full-time work with care, says Liv Mendelsohn, executive director of the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence.
“Canada is a nation of caregivers, with one in four Canadians providing care today and half of us expected to provide care in our lifetime,” she says, noting the percentage of men taking on caregiving responsibilities increased from 20 per cent in 2004 to 46 per cent in 2025.
