I don’t know about you, but I’ve found having one shot glass in the house is about enough. I could understand having, maybe, two shot glasses, but that’s the limit. There’s never been much call for more than one. So, how about 157 shot glasses? There’s got to be a story there, right? Well, of course there is.

I met a fellow on a flight who told me he had 157 shot glasses. A collection of that magnitude doesn’t just happen. In fact, it had taken years to amass. If the unexpected — unwanted, actually — arrival of the first shot glass qualified as the start of his collection, his collection dates back to the 1980s.
It started with a shot glass from Caesar’s Palace that a relative brought home as a gift for him from Las Vegas. He was in high school at the time and thought it was a dumb present. He remembered thinking, “Why would anyone want such a little, tiny glass?” He put it on a shelf in his bedroom.
