“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.” ~ Unknown

This weekend, we celebrate Memorial Day – a day when we remember those in the military who died in service of our nation. And that’s what differentiates it from every other holiday, including Veterans Day. We are grateful for every man and woman who chooses to place their civilian life on hold, sacrificing career and family, even though it may place them in harm’s way, to serve the United States of America. But on this sacred day, we specifically pay tribute to those veterans who never made it home.

For many, it’s become the unofficial kickoff of summer, and the end of the school year – commemorated with barbecues, pool and beach days, and family gatherings. Those are all great things. But Memorial Day means much more than parties and ball games.........
