Labour peer: ECHR critics are xenophobic

Another day at Labour conference, another chance for the brightest sparks of the left to descend on Liverpool and make claims spectacularly out of step with the public. Yesterday, one Labour genius declared that Labradors and country pubs are ‘racist’ and ‘far-right’. Mr S also revealed that one PPS is open to spending billions of pounds paying developing countries ‘reparations’ when their citizens come to Britain to work in the NHS.

Today’s dose of fringe fanaticism? Step forward former shadow cabinet minister Baroness Shami Chakrabarti, who has declared that calls to leave the ECHR are ‘xenophobic’ and ‘anti-rule of law’. Chakrabarti told an audience of the Labour faithful:
