The USS Colorado, first commissioned in 2018, completed a scheduled maintenance period in Hawaii and is now on track to return to the US Pacific Fleet.

In a sign that not every United States Navy program is running late and over budget, the service recently announced that the USS Colorado (SSN-788) has returned to service 29 days ahead of schedule. The 15th Virginia-class fast-attack submarine, and fifth of the significantly redesigned Block III, completed her scheduled maintenance period at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF).

“Effective and efficient maintenance keeps the US Navy lethal and ready to defend the nation and maximizes the lifespan of its vessels,” the US Pacific Fleet announced in a media statement. It added that the early delivery “demonstrated exceptional professionalism and capability” of both the shipyard and SSN-788’s crew.
