Kate had ‘less interest’ than William in keeping Harry a working royal: Book
(NewsNation) — A new book claims Kate Middleton didn’t care much about convincing Prince Harry to stay on as a working royal.
In his new book, “William and Catherine: The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story,” Russell Myers discusses Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to “step back as senior members of the royal family” and split their time between the U.K. and North America.
“Catherine had less interest than her husband in trying to persuade Harry to stay in his current role,” Myers writes, according to The Mirror, which obtained an excerpt from the book.
She believed William and Harry’s fundamental differences as the “heir and the spare” had created the inevitability of Harry wanting more from his role than being a “bit-part player.”
Prince William ‘saddened’ that Prince Harry stepped back as royal
According to Myers, William took Harry’s leaving very hard and was “intensely saddened” by his brother’s decision.
“He and Harry had been drifting apart for years, but now he knew deep down that there would be no turning back,” he wrote.

The author added, “Fond memories of their childhood, from helping each other through the tragedy of their mother’s death, to growing up in the public eye, were now tarnished by the division at the heart of the family.”
Kate felt Prince Harry and Meghan could ‘not be trusted’
Myers also claims that Kate felt that Meghan and Prince Harry couldn’t be trusted following their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which they revealed why they left the U.K. and their roles, as well as the tension between them and members of the royal family.
According to Myers, Kate believed that Meghan had declined her offers to help her adjust to life within the royal family.
“There was a lot of sadness there, but that being said, she was very clear that any engagement with Harry or Meghan should be with the utmost of caution because it was obvious that they weren’t to be trusted,” he said.
