STEVE FINAN: Why I think Dundee’s two-tier policing system for Travellers is unfair

I feel sorry for Travelling people.

They are demonised everywhere they go.

It is a human right to enjoy a free-wheeling, relaxed, alternative lifestyle.

But everyone has to obey the law. Otherwise there is no law.

Statues of Lady Justice depict her blindfolded – it represents the ideal that justice is applied without regard to wealth, power, or any other status.

And the law must be applied at an equal speed in all cases.

If you or I drove into Dundee City Square and parked, the police would act quickly to tow us away.

But that doesn’t happen when Travellers drive into places they aren’t supposed to be.

Another group set up in Caird Park this week.

And we see the law being broken and very little done about it.

Especially as the Travellers don’t have a need to be there when the underused
