JIM SPENCE: Imagine we judged council in Dundee using scoring used to reject Christmas Village bid

I wonder how well Dundee City Council would do if its efforts at running the city were measured on the same scoring process it used to reject the local Christmas Village.

We’ll never know, of course, because this is a council which doesn’t like to answer difficult questions.

In fact, it doesn’t enjoy providing answers to the people of Dundee full stop.

When it comes to prising more than the minimum required information from those ensconced in city chambers, the law of omertà applies.

In an eerie reminder of the old communist bloc system in Eastern Europe, an Iron Curtain descends in the City Square when nosey journalists and concerned citizens start asking awkward questions of their councillors and officials whose wages and expenses they pay.
