Yekutiel drops out of SF supervisor race amid sexual assault allegations

LATEST Oct. 1, 3:30 p.m. Manny Yekutiel, a candidate for supervisor in San Francisco’s District 8, dropped out of the race Thursday amid sexual assault allegations, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

In a statement shared with the Chronicle, Yekutiel called the move a “difficult decision.” Yekutiel said he is not admitting to assaulting anyone and called some of the allegations “fundamentally untrue.”

“But I am deeply sorry for any boundaries that I crossed. I’m going to take this time to work on myself,” the statement said. (The Chronicle and SFGATE are both owned by Hearst but have separate newsrooms.)

Yekutiel’s campaign did not respond to SFGATE’s multiple requests for comment in time for publication.
