Vacations can take place just about anywhere and are individualized experiences. Maybe your best vacation is filled with adventure, thrill-seeking, physical activities, and new experiences. Maybe you'd rather rest on a beach and read for an entire week. Maybe you want to go on a wellness retreat and reset your diet and physical fitness. Maybe you want to unplug from your devices and camp in the middle of nowhere, where no one can contact you. The beauty of vacations is that they can be whatever you want them to be. Happily, vacations are also quite good for us.

Taking vacations from work has been shown to provide significant psychological, physical, and cognitive health benefits. Despite this, 46% of Americans who get paid time off from their employer don’t use it all.

Clearly, for a lot of us, taking time off is a hard thing to do. We don’t want to miss work. We feel guilty about leaving our responsibilities behind. Maybe we don’t believe anyone else can do the job as well as we can. Maybe we are concerned our boss will think less of us if we take time off or that an opportunity will be given to someone else if we do not appear to be “all in.” The list of reasons people don’t take........
