Art Camp sparks creative pieces from Buckhorn youth
Art in the Heart of Buckhorn, also known as Art Camp, ended its July run recently with an art show displaying the various art pieces made by individual artists ages six to 14.
I first heard about art camp this year when with students on a Forest Walk at John Earle Chase. Anticipating summer activities one student said, “Art Camp is coming up in July. I can hardly wait. I wonder what we will do this year.”
The teaching of various artistic concepts came through the process of creating each piece. Teacher Ellen Dumas looked first at the elements of design — such as line, shape, form, colour, texture, value and space.
