A generation in transit

THERE is a quiet grief shared by many young Pakistanis today.

It is not loud or dramatic, but an unspoken heaviness that settles into daily life. This generation is not leaving Pakistan because it dreams of foreign streets or distant passports. It is leaving because it feels cornered, unheard and gradually stripped of the right to imagine a future at home. The decision to leave is rarely impulsive; it grows from years of disappointment, uncertainty and the slow erosion of hope.

For any society, youth represent possibility. They question, innovate and push institutions to evolve. In Pakistan, however, this relationship has fractured. Political participation often feels symbolic rather than meaningful. Elections come and go, yet the belief that a single vote can genuinely influence power........
