Family will 'never recover' after death of kind and gentle man stabbed 179 times
Terry McFadyen died as a result of "unsurvivable blood loss" after being repeatedly stabbed in his Bowthorpe home by Moses Fernandes.

The 71-year-old, who lived at Layer Close with his partner Jenny Holmwood, had taken in Fernandes, now 23, as a lodger just six months before he was brutally killed.

Fernandes, who had been a medical student at the University of East Anglia (UEA), had been suffering from a psychotic episode caused by a schizophrenia-like disorder at the time and believed Mr McFadyen was "poisoning him".
On Thursday (September 24) he appeared at Norwich Crown Court for sentencing after he previously admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

He was handed a hospital order detaining him under Section 37 of the Mental Health Act for the protection of the public.
A Section 41 restriction was also imposed under the Act, meaning it would require the Secretary of State to authorise his release.
