New World Payphones want to install five of the new devices, which bare some resemblance to traditional telephone kiosks, across Norwich.

The new boxes would provide a cashless phone, interactive maps and public information, as well as a defibrillator. Advertising displays would also be shown on the back of the kiosks.

However, officials at Norfolk County Council and City Hall have raised concerns about the scheme.
