Meta says it actioned 5.3 million pieces of child sexual exploitation content on Facebook and Instagram in India during H1 2026. The company has added new AI tools to detect hidden signposting, harmful links and repeat offenders, and will report child safety cases directly to India’s cybercrime portal.

Meta says it actioned 5.3 million pieces of child sexual exploitation content on Facebook and Instagram in India between January and June 2026, as the company steps up the use of artificial intelligence to detect abusive material and links directing users to illegal content outside its platforms.
