Parvesh Verma faces NCR over slap to man during Delhi road inspection

Delhi Police has filed an NCR against PWD Minister Parvesh Verma for allegedly slapping Sahib Singh during a road inspection.

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Monday filed a non-cognisable report (NCR) against Delhi Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma for allegedly slapping a man during a road inspection in west Delhi, officials said.

The NCR was registered under Section 115 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with voluntarily causing hurt, following a complaint by the man, identified as Sahib Singh.

An NCR does not automatically lead to a police investigation. A magistrate’s order is required before police can investigate a non-cognisable offence, and an arrest cannot be made without a warrant in such cases.
