Two Indian nationals have been charged in the US over an alleged international scheme to source counterfeit Ozempic from China and sell it to American distributors. One of the accused was extradited from Italy and has pleaded not guilty.
New Delhi: Two Indian nationals have been charged in a US federal court in Florida over an alleged scheme to smuggle and sell counterfeit Ozempic, the popular diabetes and weight-loss drug. One of the accused, Swapnadip Roy, was extradited from Italy and appeared before a federal court in Tampa on Tuesday, while the second accused, Vicky Ramancha, remains at large, US authorities said.
A federal grand jury in the Middle District of Florida has charged the two men with conspiracy to commit smuggling and defraud the United States, three counts of smuggling, and two counts of selling counterfeit drugs and holding counterfeit drugs for sale.........
