Asian Games 2026: India fail to win individual badminton medal after 12 years

The Indian badminton contingent failed to secure a single individual medal at the Asian Games 2026 as their campaign came to a disappointing end on Sunday.

New Delhi: For the first time in 12 years, India failed to win an individual medal in badminton at the Asian Games. The Indian badminton contingent’s campaign came to a disappointing end in Japan on Sunday, September 27. India fielded a strong contingent in the competition with several players among medal contenders across men’s and women’s singles events.

However, none of them failed to grab a spot on the podium in the individual categories. India’s badminton campaign ended after PV Sindhu, Unnati Hooda, Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand, and Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crasto lost their respective quarterfinal matches to bow out of the competition.
