President Trump’s Iran war strategy: Letters to the Editor — March 31, 2026

The Issue: Whether President Trump has a valid strategy and reason for his war on Iran.

This war defends the national interests of all Americans. Lives are being courageously sacrificed for the freedom and liberty we enjoy in this country (“Painting Victory as Defeat,” Editorial, March 27).

The traitorous voices being raised are encouraging the enemy’s empty hopes, prolonging the war and causing more American, Israeli and Iranian lives to be lost.

Our troops deserve a full-out victory and I do not believe President Trump will accept any deal that does not honor our brave soldiers.

Trump’s decision to partner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is doomed to fail. He needs to rethink the alliance, which appears to be doing more harm than good to Trump’s goal of achieving peace.

They seem to be working at cross purposes, with Trump wanting to end the hostilities and Netanyahu wanting to escalate his murderous rampage across the Middle East.

According to military experts, a victory in Iran will go to the side with the better strategy, and right now, the United States seems to have none.

Nobody wants to see our troops involved in ground warfare, but Iran can’t be trusted.

Right now, we have Iran on its back foot and have to finish it off. We have to find out what the Iranians have stashed away and destroy it all.

Murdering people because you are afraid they might attack is not bravery — it’s cowardice. Even some Republicans aren’t pretending it’s a war of “defense.”

Listening to the left, one would think Trump has stumbled blindly into the Iranian conflict with no coherent blueprint. The reality is vastly different.

As a result of careful planning, he’s decimated Iranian leadership and a huge portion of its armed forces. The mission is on a trajectory to victory, although Trump’s opponents would have you believe otherwise.

What exactly is the purpose of the Iran war? Is it because some foreign nation wanted us to? Or so Trump’s scammer friends could make a few billion? Or is it because someone might attack us if we don’t?

And at what cost to the rest of us? It’s causing worldwide recession and inflation here at home. More troops will come home disabled for life.

The Issue: An LA jury finding Meta and Google liable in harming young users through addictive apps.

Parents are also caught in the web of social media, but most have the ability to deal with side effects (“Social media’s a curse for the ‘ages,’ ” Douglas Murray, March 27).

Since youngsters don’t have that ability, it should be up to the parents to rein in their children. Monitoring your child’s social media use is part of being responsible for your kids.

Until help is provided by adults, social media will continue to do damage, and make a fortune doing it.

Placing liability on Meta and Facebook is a travesty of justice relating to parental responsibility.

Parents who knowingly provide their children with electronic devices now have a boogyman to blame for their inability to regulate their children’s online infatuation.

If this is not overturned on appeal, every malady experienced by youth will be blamed on social media and tech developers, which will become the new payday for trial lawyers.
