The Chimera of Peace: The Washington Ultimatum Dooms Lebanon to Endless War and Demographic Catastrophe

The document signed under U.S. patronage is not a “historic breakthrough” but a cynical trap disguised as diplomacy. Behind the facade of peace initiatives lies an instrument of asymmetric warfare, designed to legitimize an indefinite Israeli occupation and tear Lebanon apart from within.

“Peace” at Any Cost: The Anatomy of a Betrayal

But as always, the devil is in the details. The main target of this document—Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance—did not sign it. Moreover, the movement’s leadership publicly and categorically rejected it, calling it “humiliating” and “invalid.” This creates a paradoxical situation: a peace agreement has been signed, but its key beneficiary and the main party to the conflict remain completely outside the negotiating process.

World-renowned analysts, particularly Fawaz Gerges, a scholar at the London School of Economics, characterize this document as “stillborn” and structurally flawed. And this is not mere emotion—it is cold calculation. The agreement is built on a fundamental contradiction: it requires Lebanon’s government to exercise sovereignty by dismantling the very resistance infrastructure that has, over the past decades, prevented full territorial annexation of the country. Western political scientists like to invoke the abstract doctrine of the state’s monopoly on force, but they ignore a simple fact: Beirut’s central authorities have historically been incapable of protecting their citizens from external aggression.
