Artificial intelligence giant OpenAI recently missed some self-imposed user growth and revenue targets, the Wall Street Journal reported in an exclusive scoop—and the markets are not thrilled.

OpenAI chief financial officer Sarah Friar has told colleagues that she is “worried the company might not be able to pay for future computing contracts if revenue doesn’t grow fast enough,” the Journal added, with efforts to keep down costs now sometimes putting her in conflict with CEO Sam Altman’s full-steam-ahead ambitions.
