Wishing everyone a Happy Independence Day. This day is a historic occasion symbolizing freedom, unity, and patriotism. In Kashmir, however, the celebration of this day has historically been clouded by violence, extremism, and ideological division, especially after violence erupted in 1990 and more recently post-abrogation. Over the last decade, particularly after the abrogation, things and issues have changed drastically. From violence, stone-pelting, and unrest, Kashmir has witnessed a different picture of peace and tranquillity. More importantly, both young boys and girls are now proudly waving the national flag, signalling hope for a brighter, peaceful tomorrow.

The post-abrogation period has seen a changed scenario in Kashmir. It has restored peace, shattered the barriers of violence, and opened the doors for peaceful coexistence and national integration. Nationalism and patriotism have been seen more in Kashmir than in many parts of India. Initially, under the national program Har Ghar Tiranga, the tricolour proudly fluttered across Kashmir.........
