Dear Janice,

My friends and sister have suggested that our elderly mum would be better off in a care home but we feel so bad even considering it.

Mum always said she’d hate to end up living with strangers, but some days she doesn’t even recognise us!

I alternate visits with my sister, but we can’t be with her round the clock, and neither of us have a home suitable for her needs, so living with us is not an option.

Why do we feel sad at the thought of her ending her days in care?
