Samarkand To Host International Forum Of Sister Cities – OpEd
Samarkand is hosting the International Forum of Sister Cities on July 24–26, bringing together around 300 participants from about 20 countries, including city officials, experts, business representatives, and scholars.
The forum aims to strengthen and expand sister city partnerships between Uzbek cities and foreign partners, focusing on practical cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, science, education, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges.
Key activities include an international conference on sustainable development and people’s diplomacy, B2B/B2G meetings, signing ceremonies for new agreements, and exhibitions showcasing economic potential and historical ties. The event builds on successful examples like Tashkent–Seattle and Samarkand–Hangzhou.
