Ian Wilson is group director at Bethnic Solutions, which aims to provide companies with support for a range of projects in the marine environment.

He served as director and founder of Gardline Environmental Limited for 15 years, and when Benthic Solutions was incorporated in 2004, Ian and the team continued the process of developing specialist strategies and technical standards for the industry as a whole.

He also founded environmental health company Applied Genomics Limited, and is director of acoustical consultancy Subacoustech.

The judges said: “Ian is a hugely driven and charismatic leader”, whose work has “been game-changing and economy-driving.”

They also felt that he “leads a combination of innovative, high-risk businesses very well”.
