Norwich Crown Court was told she had confronted the victim after visiting her flat in Norwich city centre before launching a violent attack that spilled out into the communal hallway.
Brown, who has 23 previous convictions, grabbed scissors from her bag which she used to stab the victim to the face and leg.
She cut the leg of the victim's 17-year-old daughter as she attempted to intervene to protect her mother during the attack in August 2023.

The court heard she had then hidden under a mattress before escaping the property by climbing out of a rear window.
She was arrested in possession of the scissors in Polypin Yard, off Rouen Road.
Brown, of Hobart Road in Loddon, had denied wounding with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon but was found guilty after a trial.
Appearing via video link from HMP Peterborough, she was sentenced to two years and seven months.
She was made subject of an indefinite restraining order.
Recorder Nicola Fitches told her: “This was an impulsive attack in the victim’s own home that was witnessed by her daughter.”

She said it was extremely lucky the injuries sustained by both had been relatively minor though both faced lasting psychological effects.
At the time of the offences her behaviour had been chaotic as a result of long-standing drug addiction, said Recorder Fitches.
Andrew Oliver, mitigating, said she was now living an “offence and addiction free life” and her risk of serious harm in future had been assessed as “low”.
“She has a completely different attitude to life now, such that she is a completely different person to the one who committed this offending,” he added.
